Publisher and editorial responsibility

Sriwijaya Journal of Surgery (SJS) is published by HM Publisher. The publisher supports the journal’s administration and publication infrastructure. The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team are responsible for editorial decisions, which are based on scholarly quality, research integrity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are independent of payment, commercial interests, and institutional relationships. Neither the publisher nor a sponsor may require the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript, and no commercial relationship confers influence over an assessment. Payment of an article processing charge has no bearing on a decision; the charge is requested only after acceptance, as set out in Article Processing Charges.

Competing interests and recusal

Editors must declare competing interests and recuse themselves when necessary. Submissions by editors, board members, or their close collaborators are assigned to an independent editor and undergo the same external peer-review requirements as other submissions. The submitting editor must not participate in reviewer selection or the decision, and the same minimum of three independent reviewers applies; see Peer Review Policy.

Who holds which responsibility

  • Editor-in-Chief and editors — screening, reviewer selection, assessment, decisions, corrections and retractions.
  • Editorial Board — scope, editorial standards, and appointment of editors and reviewers; see Editorial Board and Peer Reviewers.
  • HM Publisher — platform, production, metadata and DOI registration, continuity and administration; no role in assessing or deciding manuscripts.
