Sriwijaya Journal of Surgery publishes two issues a year. This page states the schedule the journal works to, the record it has kept, and what authors and readers can expect at each point.
Frequency and issue months
| Frequency | Semiannual — two issues per volume, one volume per year. The same frequency is recorded for e-ISSN 2722-3558 in the ISSN International Centre register. |
| Issue 1 | Published in the first half of the year, ordinarily in June |
| Issue 2 | Published in the second half of the year, ordinarily in November |
| Volume numbering | One volume per calendar year; issues numbered 1 and 2 within the volume. Every article carries volume, issue, page range, and a registered DOI. |
| Articles per issue | Recent issues have carried between 5 and 15 articles, with an average of about 10. |

When an article appears
An accepted article is published when the issue to which it is assigned is published. It appears in full, free to read, with no embargo and no subscription, under the terms of the journal’s licence. From that moment its DOI resolves and its metadata is deposited to Crossref, so that it can be cited and found.
SJS does not currently operate an “Article in Press” or “Issue in Progress” facility, and does not describe accepted manuscripts as published before their issue appears. A Letter of Acceptance confirms acceptance; it is not a publication, and should not be cited as one.
From submission to publication
Acceptance is not tied to the issue calendar: a manuscript is assessed when it arrives, and is assigned to the next issue for which it is ready. The stages and the time each is expected to take — editorial assessment in 1–3 days, double-blind review in 2–4 weeks, author revision in 1–2 weeks, copyediting in about a week — are set out in the Peer Review Policy and step by step in the Submission Process. Those are the timeframes the journal works to, not a guarantee.
Authors who need to know which issue their accepted article will appear in may ask the editorial office at sriwijayajournalsurgery@gmail.com.
Delays and changes
If an issue cannot be published within its period, the journal says so rather than publishing silently late: a notice is placed in Announcements stating the reason and the expected date. The journal does not publish an issue out of sequence, does not backdate an issue to a period that has passed, and does not insert articles into an issue after it has been published — a later correction is handled under Corrections, Retractions and Article Updates.
Any change to the frequency itself is announced in advance and recorded on this page, and the ISSN register is updated accordingly.
Special issues
A special issue is published within the journal’s ordinary numbering and is subject to the same scope, ethics, double-blind review, and minimum of three independent reviewers as regular submissions. Special-issue content is clearly identified; see Peer Review Policy.
Permanence of the schedule record
Published issues remain available indefinitely through the archive, and are not withdrawn or reorganised retrospectively. Preservation and self-archiving arrangements are set out in Preservation and Self-Archiving.
Read together with Peer Review Policy, Submission Process, Open Access Policy and Preservation and Self-Archiving. This page is reviewed at least once a year and whenever the schedule changes.
